Tottenham Receive Major Boost as Star Player Set to Return Against Aston Villa

Tottenham have received a major boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Aston Villa, with manager Roberto De Zerbi confirming that Pedro Porro is available for the crucial clash.

Spurs have endured a difficult start to the season, winning just once in all competitions. Their only victory came against Championship side Charlton in the League Cup, before they were eliminated from the competition by Liverpool in the following round.

Tottenham’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool was also their first goal against Premier League opposition this season, having failed to score in each of their opening four league matches.

Porro missed Tottenham’s first and final Premier League games, as well as the League Cup defeat to Liverpool, after suffering a muscle injury. De Zerbi had opted not to risk the Spanish right-back while he recovered.

However, the Tottenham boss confirmed after the Liverpool defeat that Porro will return for the trip to Aston Villa.

Asked whether the defender would be available for the match, De Zerbi gave a straightforward response: “Yes.”

The game is already an important fixture for both teams, with Aston Villa sitting just one point behind Tottenham in the Premier League. Neither side has recorded a league victory so far this season.

De Zerbi backs Porro and Tottenham’s key players

Following the defeat to Liverpool, De Zerbi reiterated his confidence in his squad and singled out several players he believes can make a difference.

“I believe in my players, I have a big confidence, a big opinion of my players,” the Tottenham manager said.

He mentioned several members of his squad, including Omar Marmoush, Savio, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall, Mateus Fernandes, Andy Robertson, Pedro Porro and Dominic Solanke.

Porro has been one of Tottenham’s notable performers over the past two seasons. The right-back recorded four goals and nine assists in one campaign before contributing two goals and five assists across all competitions the following season.

Despite Tottenham finishing 17th in the Premier League in both campaigns, Porro’s individual numbers have remained positive.

His return could therefore provide Tottenham with an additional attacking outlet and defensive option as they look to get their league campaign back on track against Aston Villa.
