Manchester United have received a positive update on Noussair Mazraoui, with Michael Carrick confirming that the defender has taken a step towards returning to the squad.
Mazraoui has recently been working on his fitness, and his return to training offers encouragement for United as they look to have more options available for the coming fixtures.
Speaking about the Moroccan international, Carrick expressed hope that he would soon be back involved with the group after completing some training sessions.
“Hopefully, we’ve got Nous back involved with us. He’s done a little bit of training, so he’ll be back around the group, which is a good step in the right direction for us,” Carrick said.
The update suggests that Mazraoui is making progress, although his involvement in the squad will depend on how he continues to develop over the coming days.
His return would be welcome news for Manchester United, given his versatility and ability to operate in different defensive positions. The 28-year-old can provide options at right-back and left-back, giving Carrick greater flexibility when selecting his defence.
United will be hoping Mazraoui can regain full fitness and return to competitive action as soon as possible. However, the manager’s comments do not confirm exactly when the defender will be available for selection.
For now, his return to training represents an encouraging development for Manchester United, who will be keen to have more experienced players available as the season progresses.
