Lamine Camara has spoken about his failed move to Chelsea, insisting that he is focused on the future despite seeing a potential dream transfer fall through on deadline day.
The Monaco midfielder was at the centre of one of Chelsea’s biggest transfer stories, with the Blues pushing to sign him after Enzo Fernandez’s proposed move to Manchester City.
Chelsea believed they had reached an agreement with Monaco, but the deal fell apart at the final stage after the French club decided not to go ahead with the transfer. The situation left Chelsea without a new signing, while Camara returned to his club and continued with his season.
Now, the 22-year-old has addressed the situation for the first time.
“There was the possibility [of a Chelsea move],” Camara admitted.
“At the last minute, it didn’t happen… football moves quickly and maybe other chances will come. I’m focused.”
Camara’s response suggests he is not allowing the failed transfer to distract him. With the January window and next summer still ahead, the midfielder could have other opportunities to make the move to the Premier League.
Liverpool have already been linked with an interest in the Monaco star, although it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will return for him after the way the deadline-day negotiations ended.
Chelsea’s Other Transfer Developments
Elsewhere, reports from the Daily Mail claim that Kendry Paez is expected to remain at Chelsea rather than leave on loan. However, the midfielder is reportedly not set to be involved with the first team.
The same report also provided an update on Marco Palestra, who is expected to return from injury soon.
