Arsenal are reportedly keeping an eye on Nico Paz as Mikel Arteta considers adding another attacking midfielder to his squad ahead of the 2027–28 season.
According to the Evening Standard, the Gunners have shown interest in the 22-year-old Argentine, who has enjoyed an impressive spell with Como in Serie A.
Paz has played an important role in Como’s rise over the past season. His performances in the final third have attracted plenty of attention, particularly after he scored 12 goals and provided six assists during the 2025–26 campaign.
His form earned him a place in the Serie A Team of the Season, as well as the league’s Best Midfielder award. He is now regarded as one of the most exciting young midfielders in Italian football.
Arsenal Face Competition for Paz
Arsenal would not be the first Premier League club to show interest in Paz.
Tottenham reportedly made two attempts to sign the midfielder in 2025, but Como rejected both offers and made it clear that they were not willing to let their prized player leave easily.
The Gunners could now make their own move, although there is another major complication — Real Madrid.
According to Bernabeu Digital, Arsenal are interested in Paz, but Madrid still have significant control over the player’s future.
Real Madrid reportedly allowed Paz to join Como for €66 million (£56.6m), while retaining an €80m (£68.6m) buy-back clause in the agreement.
Real Madrid Could Complicate Arsenal’s Plans
Madrid have continued to monitor Paz’s development since his move to Italy. They chose not to bring him back to Spain last summer, but their buy-back option could become crucial if Arsenal decide to make a serious approach.
If Real Madrid trigger the €80m clause, Arsenal could find themselves out of the race before they even get the chance to negotiate directly with Como.
For Arsenal, Paz would provide another creative option in the attacking midfield areas. His goalscoring ability and eye for creating chances make him an attractive player for Arteta, particularly as the manager looks to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.
Arsenal Monitoring the Situation
Paz’s breakthrough season has made him one of the most sought-after young players in Serie A, and interest in his services is expected to continue.
Arsenal are understood to be monitoring the situation, but much could depend on what Real Madrid decide to do with their buy-back clause.
If Madrid choose to bring Paz back to the Bernabeu, Arsenal’s plans could quickly be disrupted. For now, the Gunners will have to keep a close eye on the Argentine’s situation as they consider their options ahead of next summer.
